supported by tornado wallace (delusions of grandeur), pete herbert (reverso 68/dance disorder)... when jay shepheard launched retrofit in early 2010, deep house with a splash of disco was on the menu. six releases later and the quality of music hasnt faltered once. jays own work has always been the main focus on all five releases but for retrofit 6, rudys midnight machine, (who is in fact robin lee of faze action) takes to the stage alongside an appearance from shepheard (as ee_ef_ex) on remixing duties. >ecstatic love glow< kicks off the ep, diving head first into the disco and synth heavy realm that we expect from retrofit (and, for that matter, from mr lee), whose house outputs with faze action as far back as 97 speak for themselves. the intro of tip tapping hats and congas leads into a penetrating bass guitar, a riff that goes on to be cleverly mirrored by keyboards and later, by what sounds like a scratchy lakland guitar. wooden hats, sirens and a plethora of cosmic elements boogie their way around until the tracks dominant synth parades in and takes over the arrangement, striking a dramatic and smug pose at the close of each stab. the second track of >east side good living< sticks with its predecessors groove, cosmic sirens, electronic whistles and metallic drum taps yet again highlighting rudys modern disco sound

the -makeovers- project is a compilation of some of claudes best re-twists, some of which are so far removed they can almost be considered original works. this special edition vinyl includes one of the most sought after remixes, -warpaint- originally by pocket 808 in australia, vonstroke turned this into a late night anthem in 2007. played by techno djs, dubstep djs, and everyone in between this track was never cut to vinyl until now. on the flip side claude remixed the nublu orchestra out of new york. he was never completely happy with the original version of the remix and hes gone back and re-made it into a very special piece of music including a new vocal sample from his wife aundy who also did the vocal effects in whos afraid of detroit? this collection was put together with the theme that a remix can be an inspiring starting point for an entirely new piece of music. these are two of the deeper and darker remixes but we think you agree they are also very special.

the creative swing alliance consist of the 2 producers pablo valentino and steven-j. pablo is responsible for the faces records label & his recent subdivion called motor city drum ensemble. steven-j released records on compost records, soultronik & jazzmin and played double bass for the japanese jazz band >sleepwalker<. they both come from the city of strasbourg fr, shared turntables & droped parties for more than 10 years together. the concept for the csa project was very simple: they locked themselves for one week in pablos attic to work 7 days on 7 tracks all named after the days of the week. bonzzaj records selected for this 12inch their 3 favourite tracks: on >monday< pablo and steven-j created a heavy opener for their project. bumpy they riding their mpc with a deep diving bass and wonderful synths. simbad turned the original >monday< into a heavyweight soulful dancefloor filler mashed with good old west-london broken beats. an essential dj weapon! naturally within the week you can hear some different moods while other friends/artists where passing in the studio...for example on >thursday<, when kira neris joined the alliance to create a spaced-out and captivating disco journey with a wonderful soul sample. last but not least, >saturday<: dusty old jazz records and beat generation hip hop for the b-boys and b-girls! raw! strong stuff for fans of bullion, onra, the linkwood family, etc! limited edition... so you better watch out
